About Me
I am a mother of three amazing kids, doula, childbirth educator, health coach, artist, and homeschool mama. I approach birth like I do life, with creativity, nourishment, ritual, and balance. I am also passionate about maternal mental health and discovering one's intuition. Finding balance requires us to lean into growth and do the inner work needed to live authentically as mothers. It takes work, but it is worth it.
I once held stringent views of birth and life, and the more I experienced, the more I realized that these thoughts came from trying to fit things in a box that doesn't always fit. When I began to embrace more of what is, the more I could create space for the nuances of life. I stopped following extreme ways of living, be it nutrition, homeschooling, or perfection in any area, and released myself “into the unknown” (Frozen 2, anyone?).
I still hold my ideals and have preferences, which are natural childbirth, eating as healthy as I can, and raising my kids in “natural, crunchy” ways. I also know that life happens, and we can hold these ideals tightly or embrace what is before us. Nothing is perfect, and life certainly won't be, but we can still show up and find the deep beauty among us in many ways. The more I have learned to let go and embrace life, the more I find balance and what aligns with me.
I had two homebirths (that is my happy place) and one hospital birth for my last child. The opposite experiences taught me much about ideals, acceptance, and embracing life as it is. As we all do, I have my stories of triumph, loss, redemption, and the journey to finding balance and peace. I think pregnancy and birth are times of transformation and are pivotal moments in a woman's life. It changed who I am, and for it, I am grateful. Having children has been my most excellent teacher, and I genuinely love the full-encompassing experience and awe of life that kids teach us.
I am a sculptor, and my journey through motherhood has greatly impacted how I view the world creatively. Growth is a recurring theme in my work, as I have explored seasons of life that push us forward into either growth or stagnancy. As an observer of nature, I see the similarities between growth and the human experience. It reminds me that extremes do not often serve us, but finding a balance builds resiliency in nature and our lives.
I received my bachelor's degree in art and psychology at Mount Mercy University and attended SACI College of Art and Design in Florence, Italy. The opportunity to view some of the world's greatest works of art deepened my understanding of how creativity and self-expression can build our growth and resiliency. We are all creatives; finding our unique path helps us live from our most authentic selves. Creativity anchors me as a mother as it is a constant in life that doesn't change while everything around us is always shifting. Finding your anchor as a woman and mother is important, and it will sustain you as you show up as yourself and your child/ren.

Motherhood is a rebirth in many ways. You will always have imprints of who you were, but you are entering a new role unlike anything you have known. I encourage you to educate yourself, find your voice, and choose the best for you and your baby. Embrace the rebirth; if we let it, it can transform us into our deepest and truest selves.
